You heard about connecting to the internet using al madar new feature, get 15kb/s of transfer rate for 10 dinars a month ?
Well, here is a tutorial, the deal is connecting your laptop or pc to the internet using your al madar cell phone and bluetooth:
First of all you need at least 11 LYD of credit in your Al Madar sim card, send an SMS to 8989 contains “gprs“.
You will get a message that have configurations for your phone, after configuring your phone, here comes your laptop or pc:

- Turn on the Bluetooth enabled cell phone and turn on the Bluetooth connection software.
- Make the phone discoverable.
- In Windows XP on the laptop go to My Bluetooth Places.
- Select View Devices in Range.
- After the discovery process is complete you should see the icon for the cell phone.
- Right-click on the icon and select Discover Available Services.
- To connect to your cell phone right-click on the Dial-Up Networking.
- Select Connect Dial-up networking.
- The phone will ask if you want to accept the connection request, decline or add to paired.
- The last step pairs the phone and laptop and performs the connection request.
- You will be prompted to enter a PIN code to pair up the devices, the PIN is entered in the cell phone.
- A dialogue box appears asking for user name, password and the phone number of your ISP.
- Leave all empty but fill in phone number so it will be “*99#“
- Click on the dial button to complete the connection.
That’s all, simple and clear and needs no genius to figure out.

I have a cellpone (dopod S1) , I sent a message contained “gprs” to 8989 ,but I didn`t get message,so I couldn`t configring my phone.How can I do?
September 1, 2008 at 2:52 pm
You will have to go with manual configuration, configurations in phone is easy.
APN or Access point is almadar.net
carrier is GPRS
Always on or call on demand no difference
name it and make it your default connection
if they didn’t cut the 10 dinars from your credit yet it means you didn’t subscribe and can’t use internet.

I already subscribe into Al-madar internet by sending “gprs” to 8989 and replied by downloading the setting for internet. Credit has deducted for 10 dinar. But, still I cannot connect to the internet. I use SE K850i. It was successful with Libyana…Any idea?
Thanks.

Hi Wissam,
I have not been able to connect to the GPRS. I have a post paid account about 3 years old…….. Is that part of the problem?
I am using HTC smartphone. I tried sending the SMS to 8989 and received 2 blank messages in return from +8182, nothing else. I tried doing the settings manually and entered the APN name but so far no progress.
Please advise.
Thanks for your efforts.

Hi Wissam,
I have a Samsung E840 mobile. I have received msgs from Almadar after sending GPRS to 8989.
I have configured my phone with homepage URL as http://www.google.com and APN as almadar.net
Still it is showing “service unavailable” while trying to connect.
There are some fields in the connection settings as IP adress and PORT…..shall I fill it?
If so, what should I write there?….Please help.

I like to know the APN of AL MADAR GPRS Servic
November 6, 2008 at 11:03 am
Pratik, your setting are correct 100% the problem that might be preventing you from accessing to the network is profile setting, may be you didn’t not set almadar profile as your default connection, please take a look at the browser setting also.
Hakim, the APN is almadar.net
November 6, 2008 at 11:14 am
Hi Wissam,
Yes, I have set current browser profile in ‘browser setting” as “Almadar Internet”.
I have not found the option for making this profile as default.
The setting for profile “Almadar Internet” I have mentioned earlier. But in that profile I have left “IP adress” as 0.0.0.0 and “Port” is o….These values were by default for any new profile. I do not know whether I should change those values or not.

Hi,
I have been using a Motorola K1 with almadar to connect to the internet via my PC for 3 months. For the last two days I’ve noticed that my Madar connection is closing after 30 minutes. Each time it happens I can re-connect immediately but its a pain, especially if I’m trying to download a large file. Any idea why this is happening?
Also, I can not access the internet directly on my phone, Madar does not seem to have any settings for the K1 model.
December 7, 2008 at 12:16 pm
hi,
I am using Al-Madar internet but it is damn slow. Can you tell me how to subscribe to Libyana Internet? I will be waiting for your response
December 11, 2008 at 12:49 am
We need a faster connection then this, Will AlMadar ever be as fast as other world serves. 1) Downturns with almadar Internet, Problems with the connection every day, its not fast, always disconnect. I’m not trying to bash Madar but the company relay needs to do something about the problems that are cosing so many people running to Libyana so they could brows faster and download faster, Madar needs to boost some more juicy Internet speed.
December 16, 2008 at 9:01 am
Ahmed,
Juat send a text message to 1515 containing “1″. This opens your internet access. Sending a text with “0″ closes it. Libyana is definately faster but costs a lot more because they charge by usage, not by the month like Madar. I think they charge a quarter of a dinar per megabyte of download.
December 16, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Hi, my almadar connection for second month has not yet started in my mobile even after sending gprs message to 8989. From my account 10 dinars have been deducted.i have not received any confirmation message also. Kindly help/guide.

January 15, 2009 at 7:19 am
ashish – I have the same problem, the first month was ok, after that, each time I renew, they take 10 dinars but I still cant connect. Each time I call them on 1211 and then they fix it so that I can connect.
Santos – are you trying to connect on a computer using your mobile or just trying to use the internet diret on your mobile? It seems like a lot of mobiles, including my Motorola, can not use the settings to directly connect. The only phones I know that are successfulk doing this are Nokia models. I just connect via the PC. If you are trying to do this, what is the error message you are getting? On your PC, in tools/internet options/connections, make sure that your Madar connection is set as default.

dear sir
for 10 libyan dinnars how many days i can get and use the internet facilities pls let me know
thank you
July 4, 2009 at 10:36 pm
when you pay 10 dinars you get to use the internet connection provided for 30 days, then after this one month finish, you’d need to renew it by paying 10 dinars again.
July 20, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Sir, I would like to know if Almadar has changed the policy on internet usage. Is it true that the 10 Dinar is good only for 45 hours internet access? In short Almadar is charging more amount of money for mobile internet access.
July 20, 2009 at 8:09 pm
no nothing official yet, they shouldn’t change it because the connection is weak and it sucks.

i want to know APN of libyana. i dont know how to connect my libyana gprs to my pc
August 14, 2009 at 8:44 pm
what do you mean? Libyana don’t need a user name and password to connect via PC
August 27, 2009 at 1:42 pm
1st: Libyana Question: What is the APN and User Name for Libyana so I can connect via the Nokia Suite? I tried “wap” but that doesn’t work.
2nd: Al Madar Question: I restored the factory defaults on my new Nokia 3120 Classic and now I cannot use the browser on it. I have set the APN to almadar.net but I keep getting an “Invalid Web Settings” error. I can connect with the Nokia Suite after I put in the User: Almadar Internet but I cannot use the phones browser.
It worked before I started switching SIMM cards. What number can I text to get Almadar to re-send me the settings for this model?
August 28, 2009 at 1:15 pm
I found out the answers to my own questions.
#1 “wap” has to be entered as the APN but can also be used as the user name.
#2 test “all” to “8888″ and Madar will resend the settings.
Still cannot use Opera Mini but the other browser works. Anyone no how I can get it to work? It keeps saying failed to connect to the internet even though it is available and working on my phone and computer.
August 28, 2009 at 6:36 pm
well you go to your mobile settings, and set the Al-Madar internet connection as default for all mobile applications, it worked for me.
September 9, 2009 at 6:21 am
